I have had this book for quite some time but never got to reading it. I am somewhat of a hoarder and I have a list of books that I need to read (both on my Kindle and my bookshelf). To pretend that I am somewhat of a “thinker”, I do tend to read more of non-fiction. However, there are days when I don’t want to touch any non-fiction. It was one of those days in the last week of February that I picked up this book.

I am still trying to figure out what to make of this book. At all times, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that this is a self-help (not a big fan of that genre) book masquerading as a fiction and romance. I see 2 concepts the book deals with:

  • Adults can have imaginary friends.
  • Imaginary friends can be common for 2 individuals and their experience is similar to when they interact with a real person

The moment I assume these 2 things to be a necessary factors for this book, it becomes a self-help book for me.

There are so many places where I can empathize with Elizabeth. However, I was not able to connect with the idea that a “shared imaginary friend” was able to bring a change in perspective.

It was a fun read. It definitely satiated my craving for the kind of light fiction that I wanted to read. However, I am not sure if I will remember this book as a romantic fiction that is a must read.
